Derpy World Guide

Welcome to Derpy World! This is a multiplayer world where you can walk around as a derpy pixel art character, meet other players, and chat via proximity-based speech bubbles.

1. Enter your name on the join screen
2. Choose your character - each has a unique look and color
3. Pick a pet companion (optional)
4. Select a starting location
5. Click "Join Game" and start exploring!

Chat in Derpy World is proximity-based. When you send a message, only players nearby can see your speech bubble. This creates more natural conversations and encourages players to gather in the same areas.

• Press Enter to open the chat input
• Type your message (max 200 characters)
• Press Enter again to send
• Press Escape to cancel
• Your speech bubble appears above your character
• Messages fade away after a few seconds

You can choose a pet companion on the join screen. Your pet will follow you around the world, adding a bit of extra personality to your character.

• Blobby Jr - A tiny blob friend
• Chirpy - A cheerful bird
• Spooky - A friendly ghost
• Gloopy - A bouncy slime

Press E to toggle whether your pet follows you closely or wanders nearby.

Personalize your character with a custom body color and hat! You can choose these when creating your character, or change them anytime in-game.

• Pick from 16 curated body colors on the join screen
• Choose a hat or accessory: party hat, crown, bow, glasses, and more
• Press X in-game to open the customization panel
• Changes are saved to your account and visible to all players

Give your friends a lift! Piggyback rides let one player carry another around the world.

• Stand near another player and press P to request a ride
• The other player can press P to accept
• While riding, the carrier controls movement
• Either player can press P to dismount

When the weather turns snowy, you can have snowball fights with other players!

• Snowballs are only available during snowy weather
• Press T to throw a snowball in the direction you're facing
• Hit other players to see a satisfying splat effect
• Snowballs travel a short distance before disappearing

Dancing

Press C to start dancing! Your character will perform a funky dance with sparkle effects. Press C again or move to stop.

Fishing

Find a body of water and press F to start fishing. Your character will cast a line and wait for a bite. Press F again to stop.

Blowing Bubbles

Press B anywhere to blow bubbles into the air.

Flowers

Find flowers growing in parks and meadows. Press G to pick one up, then press G near another player to give it to them.

Music

Inside The Tilted Tankard tavern, number keys 1-9 play musical notes instead of emotes. Make music with your friends!

The world has dynamic weather that changes over time:

• Clear - Normal sunny day
• Rain - Raindrops fall across the screen
• Snow - Snowflakes drift down, and you can throw snowballs!

Weather is synchronized across all players, so you'll experience the same conditions together.

The world contains several meeting places where players tend to gather:

• The Wobbly Plaza - The central spawn point and main gathering area
• The Tilted Tankard - A cozy tavern where you can play music
• Sunny Meadow Park - A peaceful park with flowers to pick
• Whispering Ruins - Mysterious ancient stones
• The Secret Grove - A hidden spot for those who explore

Signs throughout the world provide hints about locations. Walk near a sign to read it.

• Your position is saved periodically - you can return to where you left off
• Can't walk through water - find bridges or go around
• Trampolines will bounce you into the air!
• Wave (1) near another player for a high-five
• The ball in the plaza can be kicked around - play soccer with friends!
• Benches let you sit and rest - press E near one
• Press H anytime for a quick controls reference
